Business Loan Connection: Small Business Loans in Tioga County
Tioga County does not have any cities, but it does have around 50,000 people across its nine towns and six villages. It sits on Pennsylvania’s northernmost border, with Courtland and Tompkins Counties above it. Life tends to be quiet in the rural communities, though the area is full of gorgeous scenery and friendly people. Many of the businesses are locally-owned and operated. More than 800 companies have made the area home, and are improving the economy, as well as providing jobs. An additional 2,700 entrepreneurs have stepped up on their own, operating sole-proprietorships, or non-employee enterprises. At Business Loan Connection, we’re proud to be part of the Tioga County community. Our credit union partners are not for profit, and were created to serve their members.
The county seat is Owego, with approximately 20,000 residents. It sits on the Susquehanna River, which runs through the southern part of the county. Summertime activities include things like hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, playing golf, or attending fairs and festivals. In the winter, ice fishing and cross-country skiing are among favorite activates. Throughout the year, the downtown area is a hotspot for local crafters and artisans, with numerous shops for visitors to peruse.
Though some people divide the Tioga County at the Susquehanna River, it’s not an equal divide, as the northern portion would include the towns of Owego, Richford, Berkshire, Newark Valley, Candor, Tioga, Barton, and Spencer, as well as the village of Waverly. To the south, the only major area is Nichols, with fewer than 3,000 people. The outlying areas are much like Owego, with more farms, dairies, and vineyards as well. The Census Bureau ties the county in with the Binghamton, New York metro area, as Birmingham is just a 30-minute drive from Owego. When combined with Broome County, which is the third leg of the statistical area, the region encompasses just over 250,000 people.
